Hi, my name is Jennifer, and I have been homeschooling three of my four children for two years now. They started out in a Christian school that used the ABeka curriculum, so when I decided to homeschool them due to expecting my 4th baby, who was diagnosed with a rare congenital heart defect, I decided to use ABeka also.
ABeka homeschool program is far more advanced than a lot of other curriculums. ABeka is so self-explanatory, but does go very fast. My kids have been doing great with it. They have just completed grades 2nd and 6th. My husband who also attended the same Christian school for twelve years also had the ABeka program. I guess the most important thing that I feel ABeka is doing awesome in, is that it is Bible-based and that is the main reason I like it so much. Our children are the only things in this life that we can take with us to Heaven so giving them a clean, Christian, Bible based-education is definitely a plus in my book.
ABeka is a little more costly than some other curriculums I have looked into, but like the saying says, "you get what you pay for." So I feel that my children's education should be the very best that I can give.
The first year I homeschooled I ordered everything new through ABeka, however, last year I started looking early and found most everything I needed through several different websites, including ebay and homeschool classifieds. It is hard to find student consumables but finding the teacher books used is a lot cheaper than purchasing new.
I hope to continue homeschooling and using Abeka homeschool curriculum throughout my children's schooling journey.Hi Jennifer,
Thanks so much for taking time out of your busy schedule to share why you chose ABeka homeschool program for your children, and what you like best about it. Thanks too, for sharing some money-saving tips and a couple of great websites to find used ABeka materials. Blessings, Heather :)
