Abeka Home Schooling Academy Review

Convenient ABeka Home Schooling on Video

Convenient ABeka Home Schooling on Video

Sixth grader was so excited to get her ABeka home schooling videos in the mail, that instead of watching a movie one summer night, she watched the first day of Bible class! Her mom shares why...

We have been using ABeka for five years but last year we started using the Abeka video courses for my 5th grader. It is so well done! My daughter not only loved the classes but really enjoyed the instructors and students too.

We receive the DVD classes by mail. Each day my daughter will put a DVD in, and it has all the classes for that day. There is a menu that comes up and she can select which class to watch. The classes are about forty minutes long for math, science, history, Bible, and language arts. The other classes such as spelling, reading, and penmanship are a little shorter.

The video is of an actual classroom with a teacher and students. So my daughter participates as if she is in the classroom. The teacher gives the lesson and they do class work together and go over it. You can pause the DVD at anytime to work out problems or ask questions; or, you can rewind it if you missed something. The teacher will also assign any extra work, homework, or tests to be done after the video is turned off.

There is a manual that I look at daily to see that the assignments are getting completed and to see if there are any tests/quizzes to take. I also grade anything that is to be scored. ABeka does have an option to send graded material to them for scoring. When we are finished with the videos they are sent back to ABeka. It is extremely well done and the teachers are wonderful. It has been such a blessing for our family.

She was so excited to get her 6th grade videos in the mail, that instead of watching a movie one night in the summer, she wanted to watch the first day of Bible class.

Great review of ABeka home schooling video curriculum. I love when kids love "school" so much, they do it without being told to, or as a fun activity. The love of learning... that's what homeschooling is about, right? Blessings, Heather
