ABeka Homeschool Curriculum on DVD
Busy homeschooling mom of four young children shares why she uses ABeka homeschool curriculum on DVD...
I am teaching my son 1st grade using ABeka homeschool curriculum. My mom works at a public school and cannot believe how advanced the ABeka program is. My son is at least a half a year ahead of the public schools.
ABeka is a great program. My favorite part is the bible study. My 6 year old can recite John 3:16-19 without missing a word. He also knows many, many more verses. What a blessing.
I am using the DVD program this year and it has been a big help with all of the subjects. I also have a three year old boy, and one year old twins. The DVD has really made a difference because a teacher is actually teaching the concepts. I am helping with crafts, grading papers and organizing his daily assignments, so they are ready for the day’s lessons.Stacy, thanks for sharing how ABeka homeschool curriculum on DVD is working with your young, busy family. Your thoughts are much appreciated! Blessings, Heather :)

Abeka K-4 DVD Program Homeschool Review
by Karla Bolender
Perfect for her two girls; needs modifying for her boy. Home educator shares her experience with Abeka K-4 DVD program; read her homeschool review...
This year my third child is using the Abeka K-4 curriculum. My first two children were girls. Now my son is using the DVD program. My girls did very well with this curriculum and were more than happy to color, cut, practice writing in cursive, learn their number, and learn to read. In addition to the basics, Abeka K-4 DVD offers music, art, poetry, skills time, and language development.
My son is a very active 4 year old, and the DVD program has not worked so well with him. Having to sit still through 35 minutes of Bible class is almost impossible. By the time Numbers class comes, his attention-span is almost gone, and he tunes out after 5 minutes. Because his fine motor skills are not as developed as the girls were at this age, cursive writing is a challenge.
I have had to modify the curriculum so that I don't completely lose his interest. I skip Bible class and language development. I teach writing class and am happy if he can just trace the letters. He does excellent with Phonics, Reading, and numbers; so I will not be holding him back. Eventually, his fine motor skills will catch up.
If you have a very active boy whose fine motor skills are still developing, be prepared to modify the curriculum.
Thanks for your informative Abeka K-4 DVD Program homeschool review, Karla; your comments are helpful. I appreciate the time you took to share your personal experience. I believe there are many parents who have busy boys (or girls) and many get frustrated trying to use a curriculum that may need to be modified a little to better fit the learning style or energy level of their child. Sometimes a little "tweaking" here and there is all it takes! Blessings, Heather :)
P.S. What a beautiful family you have!

Abeka DVD Curriculum Review
by Valencia Helligar

Read this mom's Abeka DVD curriculum review to find out why she has used Abeka for eight years and counting...
My family has been using the Abeka DVD curriculum for the last eight years and we find it very helpful for our family needs. I have a 9th grader, a 6th grader and a 2nd grader. Using the DVD accredited program has helped me to effectively facilitate my three children's education by not being overwhelmed with having to teach all three of them at the same time, creating a schedule etc.
Yes, the curriculum is fast pace and challenging. But the good thing about it is that it is a DVD and the children can rewind the DVD over and over until they comprehend the work, and of course I also help them in that area also. Using the DVDs also gives me an opportunity to work one on one with them.
I like Abeka mostly because the curriculum is Christ centered, it also reinforces what our children learn in church, and in our family devotions. The curriculum also helps keep me accountable to someone for my children’s education.
Abeka is affordable in comparison to private school. We're paying 1/3 (overall) of what it would cost us to send them to a private school that is using the same curriculum. The amount we pay for the entire curriculum for one child is what it would cost us monthly to send one child to private school.
What a wonderful Abeka DVD curriculum review, Valencia! Thanks for taking the time to help other parents by sharing your experience with ABeka. You are right - homeschooling is so affordable when compared to private school! Blessings, Heather :)
