Abeka 2nd Grade Homeschool Curriculum Review

Check out some pros and cons of Abeka 2nd grade homeschool curriculum to find out if it's right for you!We are about to embark on our 3rd grade homeschooling journey but thought I would take a moment to let you know why we will continue to use Abeka homeschool curriculum this year.
Abeka lays it all out there for you. The parents lesson plan books were wonderful. I have had experience with another publisher whose Parent books were just the answers. No suggestions on teaching the material... no lesson plans... nothing! With the Abeka books it breaks everything down into 170 lessons which allow you to take "field trips" for the other 10 days. You do not have to follow the books exactly but for me it was wonderful to not have to take a week or two to go through the books and try to plan 180 days of lessons.
For my son the pages were colorful and the directions were easy to understand. Abeka teaches the subject with Christian values and principals.
The only drawbacks to the curriculum would be the price and, in my opinion, Abeka has a lot of writing. I was not a fan of the amount of cursive writing I did way back in grade school and did not want to put my child through that while knowing that most men do not write. With that in mind we do practice the cursive writing but not the amount they have in the books.
